Using it for a Google Play link

The most reliable target for a store QR code is the canonical listing URL, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=YOUR.PACKAGE.NAME. Tap Play Store link above and swap in your package name. A QR pointing straight at the listing works on any phone with a camera and doesn't depend on a URL shortener that might expire. If you want basic attribution, you can append campaign parameters (for example &referrer=utm_source%3Dposter) and the QR updates instantly.

Which error-correction level?

Higher correction levels add redundancy so the code still scans when part of it is dirty, printed small, or covered by a logo — at the cost of a denser pattern. M is the everyday default. Choose Q or H only if you'll overlay a logo or print at small sizes; otherwise the extra density just makes the code harder to scan from a distance.

Print and video tips

Keep the quiet zone (the white margin) — scanners need it, which is why the standard is four modules. Export at 1024 px or larger for print so the squares stay sharp. For a vertical promo video, drop the PNG onto a solid card rather than a busy background, and hold it on screen for at least two to three seconds so viewers have time to scan.

FAQ

Does this upload my link anywhere?

No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser with local JavaScript. Your text never leaves the page, and there's no sign-up or tracking on the code itself.

Why won't very long text generate?

A QR code has a maximum capacity that depends on the error-correction level. If you paste a very long string the encoder can't fit it and shows a message — shorten the text, or lower the correction level from H toward L to gain capacity.

Can I change the colors?

Yes, but keep strong contrast: a dark foreground on a light background scans best. Inverting to light-on-dark works on many modern scanners but is less reliable, so test before you print.

Is the PNG free to use commercially?

A QR code is just an encoding of your own URL or text, so the image you export here is yours to use anywhere — app listings, packaging, posters, slides.
